■ A SEASON closer that VCD had to win to avoid the relegation play-offs saw them make a bright start without really creating much, but it was Grinstead who took the lead after 23 minutes when a blocked shot by Ben Aubrey broke to Tariq Straker to finish well into the corner.
Grinstead extended their lead after 29 minutes when a good break into the box found Aubrey to finish. VCD got back into it after 41 minutes when Tolu Jonah rose unopposed at the far post to head in.
