BLYTH SPARTANS got their season off to the perfect start as they saw off Gloucester City at Croft Park in a six-goal thriller.
Jordan Hickey’s wonder goal gave Blyth a half-time lead after Harry Emmett cancelled out JJ Hooper’s penalty, before Nicky Deverdics’ curler made it 3-1.
Harry Williams set up a nervy finish before sub Lewis Knight killed it off with a minute to go.
Hooper was given his debut by Graham Fenton, and had the first big chance when his header clipped the bar before Hickey’s rebound...
