CANVEY Island opened their Isthmian League Premier Division season with a 3-2 victory over Haringey Borough – having been 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go at the Moviestarr Stadium yesterday.
Haringey took the lead on five minutes from the penalty spot. Sam Mvemba handled a cross in the penalty area and Matthew Young stepped up to slot his spot-kick past goalkeeper Sam Jackson.
The lead was doubled after ten minutes when, after good build-up play, Kasim Aidoo fired an angled drive past Jackson.
