■ MANAGER Ian Long had to settle for a draw in his first home match in charge of Walsall Wood — and it was one of his former players who denied him victory.
Joe Fitzpatrick fired the home side into the lead just before the half-hour with a stunning effort that gave Keelan Fallows no chance.
But Wood failed to make the most of a number of other goalscoring opportunities and Leo Brown — who played under Long when the pair were at Alvechurch — equalised a minute before half-time with a looping effort over keeper Dale Eve.
