Felixstowe made their pressure count as they dispossessed Heybridge in midfield, and Charlie Warren made no mistake.
Heybridge regained their advantage minutes into the second half when Jack Adlington-Pile lifted the ball over the keeper with ease.
The visitors were back on level terms from the penalty spot before the home side then had Tyler Brampton dismissed for a second yellow.
