BECKENHAM Town overcame East Grinstead Town in the Isthmian League South East Division, defeating the visitors to go within one point of moving away from the bottom of the table.
The hosts came into the game in desperate need of three points against midtable East Grinstead and did not disappoint, opening the scoring in the 20th minute through Finlay Lovatt, who was in the perfect place to scramble home amid a chaotic goalmouth scramble.
Connor Tighe was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Freddie Nyhus in the 45th minute.
