TOM BLACKWELL was the Braintree Town match-winner as the hosts edged out Aveley in an Essex derby.
The forward’s goal was a blow Aveley were unable to overcome, despite a spirited fightback.
The hosts started well with Aaron Blair and Shaquille Coulthirst linking well without really testing Aveley stopper Jonathan North.
Devonte Aransibia enjoyed a solid debut for the Iron and it was his corner that provided Blackwell with an opportunity to pounce in the 19th minute, with Blackwell’s bullet header firing his side ahead.
