Capturing the spirit of grass roots

I RECENTLY attended Worthing United v Dorking Wanderers B in the Southern Combination Division One at Step 6.
After having a quick pint and a complimentary mince pie before kick-off in the very welcoming clubhouse, it was great to see the players walk up the steps onto the elevated pitch.
Wanderers – a club well documented of having risen through grassroots leagues – played in a similiar system to their first team, as revealed on the club’s Bunch of Amateurs documentary on YouTube, which was great viewing.
