GEORGE Elokobi has been rewarded for leading Maidstone United to their best ever FA Cup run by being awarded with a new contract.

Elokobi guided the Stones through seven ties – including victories over EFL sides Barrow, Stevenage and Ipswich Town – to reach the fifth round of the competition before bowing out at Coventry City.

And with six weeks of the season remaining, his side are also in hunt for promotion in National League South at the firsttime of asking as they battle for a place in the play-offs.

Elokobi, 38, was named caretaker boss following Hakan Hayrettin’s dismissal in January last year – an appointment made permanent two months later.

He couldn’t prevent relegation from the top-flight but has set about changing the landscape at the Gallagher Stadium, and breaking records in his first full season in management.

On extending his current deal until the end of the 2025-26 season, the formerWolverhampton Wanderers and Colchester defender said: “I’m extremely pleased to carry on the work we’ve been doing at Maidstone United Football Club.

“The project continues and I’m delighted to have signed a contract extension.”
