Match Preview: Grimsby Borough v Stocksbridge Park Steels (Saturday, 3pm)

Grimsby Borough host Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

In their last league match, on March 23, Grimsby beat Ashington AFC 2-1 away.

Stocksbridge lost, 1-0 away at Consett.

With 36 goals in 32 games so far this season, Stocksbridge are the league’s third-lowest scorers with 1.1 goals per game. But they are conceding fewer than average too, letting in 39 goals at a rate of 1.2 per game.

Grimsby are also below average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.4 goals per game.

The Steels are 15th in the table after 32 games, of which they have won eight and drawn 11, earning 35 points.

Borough are five places ahead of the visitors in 10th, with 12 wins and five draws putting them on 41 points.

The home side are in mixed form in the Northern Premier League Division One East, with two wins and two draws from their last six games.

With two wins and a draw over that period, Stocksbridge’s form is slightly worse – they have taken seven points from 18, compared to Grimsby’s eight.

In the last three years, Grimsby and Stocksbridge have played each other on three occasions. Grimsby won two of them and they drew once.

Their last meeting was on September 26, when Grimsby won 2-1 away.
