Match Preview: Banbury United v Tamworth (Saturday, 3pm)

Banbury United are on a terrible run ahead of hosting Tamworth at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium on Saturday, with just one point collected from their last six games.

Banbury have picked up just one draw in their last six National League North games, and face a Tamworth side whose last six games have brought two wins and three draws.

Tamworth are top of the table after 45 games, of which they have won 28 and drawn nine, earning 93 points.

Banbury are 21 places behind the away team in 22nd, with 10 wins and eight draws putting them on 38 points.

With 38 goals in 45 games so far this season, United are the league’s joint-third-lowest scorers with 0.8 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 83 goals at a rate of 1.8 per game.

Tamworth, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.6 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 0.6 goals per game.

In the last 10 years, Banbury and Tamworth have played each other on seven occasions. Banbury won two of them, Tamworth three, and they drew twice.

On average, Banbury scored 1.1 goals and Tamworth 1.3 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 11, when Banbury won 2-1 away.

Banbury’s last match was on Tuesday, a 1-0 loss against Boston United.

Tamworth beat South Shields 3-2 last time out, on April 13.
