Match Preview: Braintree Town v Eastbourne Borough (Saturday, 3pm)

Both Braintree Town and Eastbourne Borough will be looking to extend their unbeaten runs at the Cressing Road Stadium on Saturday.

The two sides have gone five National League South matches since they last lost – during which Braintree have won four and drawn one, and Eastbourne have taken three wins and two draws.

In the last 10 years, Braintree and Eastbourne have played each other on 10 occasions. Braintree won six of them, Eastbourne three, and they drew once.

On average, the Iron scored 2.3 goals and the Sports 1.8 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 11, when Eastbourne won 3-1 at home.

Braintree are fourth in the table after 45 games, of which they have won 23 and drawn 12, earning 81 points.

Eastbourne are 16 places behind Town in 20th, with 13 wins and 10 draws putting them on 49 points.

With 50 goals in 45 games so far this season, Borough are the league’s third-lowest scorers with 1.1 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 71 goals at a rate of 1.6 per game.

The Iron, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game. They have conceded 0.9 goals per game.

Braintree’s last match was on April 13, a 2-1 win against Havant and Waterlooville.

Eastbourne drew 1-1 with Weston-super-Mare last time out, on Tuesday.
