Philliskirk at the double to shock Reds

SOUTHPORT’S Danny Philliskirk grabbed a brace as they prevailed over Alfreton Town at the Big Help Stadium.
A dominant display by Jim Bentley’s new-look team was enough to see out late pressure from the visitors.
A slow opening was highlighted by a few fouls that provided a stop-start approach to the early proceedings.
Southport, who had the majority of their possession, were rewarded with the lead in the 18th minute after a Danny Lloyd free-kick fell to Philliskirk at the back post and he made it 1-0 to the home side.
