Danny Searle sacked by Ebbsfleet United

Ebbsfleet United have dismissed manager Danny Searle after just under seven months in charge.

Ebbsfleet United have dismissed manager Danny Searle after just under seven months in charge.

The Fleet lost 4-0 at Altrincham on Saturday and have shipped 18 goals in seven National League matches, collecting a solitary point to leave them four adrift of safety.

Searle was initially appointed as interim manager in February following Dennis Kutrieb’s sacking and led the side to survival following a goalless draw at Boreham Wood on the final day.

Despite a few new signings, the season opened with a 5-1 hammering at Gateshead and form hasn’t improved. Stretching back to last term it’s just one win in fourteen.

Searle is the first manager to lose his job in the National League this season, and assistant manager Anwar Uddin has also departed.

The club’s official website said:

“We wish Danny and Anwar every success in their future careers.

“Both men deserve all our gratitude not only for steering the club clear of relegation last season but for their immense hard work and dedication for the duration of their time at the club.

“Such a decision is never one that is taken lightly or without due consideration – but it must always be taken with the good of the football club in mind.”

Josh Wright will take temporary charge ahead of tonight’s game with Aldershot Town, a side previously managed by Searle.
