SHEPSHED began the game with Long Eaton United buoyed by a midweek victory over Coleshill, while the visitors were looking to get back on track after a 7-0 thumping at Corby Town.
Long Eaton wasted no time in asserting themselves inside the first 15 minutes. Connor Pace rifled a 20-yard volley off the underside of the crossbar to give the visitors the lead in emphatic fashion.
One became two after 37 minutes as United took turns to rifle in efforts on goal following a corner.
