National League South side Torquay United have signed Jordan Young from Yeovil Town.

Young was top scorer for the Glovers last season as they made an instant return to Step 1. The former Chippenham Town and Gloucester City forward made 81 appearances overall for Mark Cooper’s men, scoring 17 goals. The final of these was in a 3-1 victory at Boston United in August. His last goal of last term was in a 3-1 win against Torquay at Huish Park, with his efforts earning him a place in the National League South Team of the Season.

The 25-year-old has arrived for an undisclosed fee and taken the number 8 shirt, vacated by Roddy Collins, who left earlier this month.

Torquay United manager Paul Wotton told the club’s official website:

“Jordan is a player who excelled for Yeovil last season in the National League South, and he’s been very, very good this season for Yeovil in the National League.

“He’s a player who brings creativity, pace and quality to the squad.”

The Gulls are away to Chelmsford City this Saturday. They currently sit 5th in National League South, three points behind leaders Farnborough.
