TERRY FLEMING has left his position as manager of Northern Premier League Division One South side Lincoln United.

The former Lincoln City and Cambridge United midfielder took over as Whites boss in 2011 and guided them to 18th in the league last season.

United currently find themselves one place worse off than than but are assured of a place in Step 4 next season due to the fact bottom side Hucknall Town are 20 points behind them in the sole relegation spot.

Terry FlemingWhites chairman Malcolm Cowling says he doesn’t feel the club were moving forward under Fleming and hopes a change at the helm will see an improvement in fortunes next term.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “Terry Fleming has worked tirelessly for the club since taking over the manager’s role during the 2010/2011 season in difficult circumstances and within a very tight financial budget.

“Football, at any level, however, is results-driven and, unfortunately, we have not seen the consistent results and performances we need to support the club’s drive for improvement both on and off the field.

“Regrettably, therefore, we have taken the very difficult step of parting company with Terry but we thank him for the contribution he has made and wish him well for the future.

“We will now put all our efforts into supporting our caretaker manager, Darren Dye, and the players in the four remaining games.”
