BLACKETT WINS MARINERS CLASH

NATIONAL League North top gun Paul Blackett’s first-half brace saw South Shields win the battle of the Mariners.
Strong winds at the First Cloud Arena created problems throughout, but with the wind on their side Blackett was taken down inside the box by Josh Wardle within the first quarter.
Blackett slotted his penalty down the middle past Matthew Corran to put a free-scoring Shields in the box seat.
