GARY KING has quit as director of football at Southern League Premier Division club Arlesey Town.

Arlesey finished sixth under King’s guidance this season and the club’s chairman Manny Cohensays his departure represents a sad day for those involved at Hitchin Road.

Speaking to the club’s website, Cohen said: ‘It is without doubt that the club is saddened by Gary’s decision to step down as director of football, but fully respects his decision to do so.

“ATFC is a members owned club and on behalf of all the committee and members, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gary for the time and effort he has put in over the last five years, a period that will go down as one of the most successful in the clubs 122-year history, and in which we have had the pleasure of seeing some really entertaining football. We wish him well.”

Gary KingKing, above, commented: “I shall depart with a heavy heart. My happiest times as a football manager have taken place at ATFC and I have memories that will stay with me forever.

“To all those involved in the club – thank you for your support, you have always made me feel welcome and I know without your help we could not have achieved in the way we have.”
