WIDNES’ quest for the title suffered a blow as they were beaten by Witton Albion.
Missed chances was the story of the day for Michael Ellison’s team, whose lead at the top of the table has been reduced to six points.
Sharif Deans headed off target early on, while Jack McGowan snatched at a volley and blazed over.
Witton had opportunities of their own, particularly when James Hooper arrived late to fire wide.
