■ COVENTRY Sphinx finally secured their league status with a tremendous away display.
Shaun Thomas and John Woodward’s team took a single-goal lead into half time thanks to Harry Wakefield’s powerful strike into the bottom corner after Sphinx had sprung Darlaston’s offside line.
The goal was the only real difference between the teams before the break, but the visitors were buoyant throughout the second period and some presentable chances went amiss. Harvey Smith clipped the crossbar after being sent clear by Jac Redhead’s pass...
