ANDY HEALD has left his position as manager of Northern Premier League Division One North club Salford City.

Heald took charge of the Ammies along with assistant Chris Thompson four months ago and led them to a 16th-place finish in the league.

The pair also guided their side to the Machester Premier Cup final – the club’s first final for six seasons.

However, due to business and family commitments they cannot commit the time that their roles demand and have therefore made the decision to step down.

A statement on the club’s website paid tribute to departing duo, saying: “Salford City’s committee would like to put on record its appreciation of Andy and Chris’s efforts on the club’s behalf over the entire 2012-2013 season.

“Both men assisted the previous manager prior to their own appointment and have impressed everybody at the club with their diligence, attention to detail and commitment to the cause.

“On behalf of the committee, playing staff and supporters we offer Andy and Chris our very best wishes for the future.”
