Cumbrians join six Cup exiles

NEWCOMERS Carlisle United are one of six clubs to have turned down the opportunity of competing in the National League Cup next season.
Held by Leeds United U23s, the much-maligned cup competition, in its second season will again be contested by 16 of the 24 National League clubs, along with Under 23 sides from Premier League 2.
However, the Cumbrians have opted out to prioritise to league, joining the likes of York City, Yeovil Town, Southend United, Eastleigh and Altrincham.
