DANNS ESCAPES INSTANT BAN IN BET RAP

SOUTHPORT manager Neil Danns has received a six-month suspended sentence by The FA, and a £1,000 fine, for breaching betting rules.
Danns, the former Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Bolton midfielder, was accused of breaching FA Rule E8 65 times by placing bets on football matches between February 17, 2007 and August 13, 2022.
Of the 65 bets Danns made, 62 were placed before those rules were changed. Prior to 2014, bans were only put in place if a participant had bet on a match or competition in which they were involved in or could influence.
