BIRTLEY Town earned a home tie against Shildon in the next round but the Hoops had to work hard to hard to get the better of Beverley Town on Tyneside.
The visiting Beavers were still in this extra preliminary tie until Reece Harrison’s second goal of the game seven minutes into stoppage time finally sealed a home victory.
Birtley, who lost goalkeeper Declan Greenwood in the warm-up, were two goals to the good at the break before McCauley Snelgrove pulled a goal back 11 minutes into the second half.
