BASINGSTOKE got their season off to a winning start thanks to goals early and late against Wimborne.
In an eventful opening period, Brad Wilson’s lob from the tightest of angles was hooked off the line by Billy Walker.
Then Will Fletcher’s scrambled effort from close range somehow bounced up against the crossbar, before a challenge on George Reid sent the ball looping over Cameron Plain and into the net for a fortuitous opener for the hosts after seven minutes.
