Morecambe legend Jim Bentley has spoken of his heartbreak at the crisis engulfing the stricken National League side.
Bentley, 49, spent nine years playing for the Shrimpers and enjoyed another eight as manager before leaving the club in 2019 following a disagreement with owners Jason Whittingham and Colin Goldring.
The pair – collectively known as Bond Group Investments – oversaw the collapse of rugby side Worcester Warriors in 2022 and were disqualified as company directors for 12 months.
