A superb advert for the National League as Rochdale and Altrincham served up a tremendous contest in a game played at a high-tempo throughout.
In the end, it was Jim McNulty’s Dale who edged it to send their fans home happy.
With both sides coming into the game on the back of opening day wins, something had to give, but neither side gave an inch as they traded blows early on.
