■ LEIGHTON opened the scoring after seven minutes when Jack Sayell rose brilliantly to a corner and powered a direct header into the top-right corner.
Just six minutes later, it was nearly 2-0. Leo Farruch picked up the ball and curled a great effort onto the right side of the crossbar.
While the visitors forced Dan Hosier into a smart stop after 16 minutes, their last effort of the half was a speculative whizzer over the big stopper’s bar.
