VISITORS Whitby recovered from conceding a goal in the opening few seconds to run out convincing winners with two goals in each half.
Mikey O’Neill fired the hosts into a rapid lead but two goals in four first-half minutes swung the game.
Ashton’s first attack saw O’Neill spread the play to Alex Byrne whose cross was converted at the near post by O’Neill after just 24 seconds.
They came close to doubling their advantage when Luca Navarro cut inside before sending a glancing effort off the bar.
