CHRIS Agutter says he would rather have no-one else as his Sutton United assistant than Dean Hammond.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton midfielder has answered a call from Agutter to join him at Gander Green Lane.
The pair worked together successfully at National League South Worthing before topflight Sutton came calling for Agutter to replace the departed Steve Morison in the U’s hotseat.
Hammond, 42, was placed in interim charge of the Rebels as they sought a permanent boss, but has now upped sticks to renew the partnership in south-west London.
On luring his new number two, Agutter said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working with Deano.
“He’s a brilliant, brilliant coach and an even better man – there’s not another two people that I’d want more alongside me on the journey ahead than Deano and BC [analyst, Ben Cornelius].
“Deano brings a wealth of experience which will help the team moving forwards; he’s been there and done it as a player and he’s determined to do the same as a coach and assistant manager.”
