Eastbourne Borough have confirmed the return of Tommy Widdrington as their new manager, re-appointing the ex-Aldershot Town boss.
The National League South side confirmed the arrival of the 54-year-old on Thursday, just two days after he resigned from his post with the National League side.
Widdrington previously managed the Sports between 2012 and 2017, overseeing more than 200 games during his first spell at Priory Lane before moving on to roles with Bristol Rovers, King’s Lynn Town and most recently Aldershot.
He guided the Shots to an impressive eighth-place finish in the 2023-24 campaign – their highest league position since 2018 – and a historic triumph at Wembley over Spennymoor Town in the FA Trophy.

Reunion
However, in a statement issued on social media earlier this week, Aldershot confirmed that Widdrington had left the club. The club refused to comment any further on the situation.
His swift return to Eastbourne marks a reunion with a club where he remains a popular figure and one that currently sits in the bottom four of the National League South table after a poor start to the season.
Widdrington will now be tasked with lifting Boro’s fortunes and steering them away from danger, bringing with him a wealth of National League experience and a clear sense of unfinished business at Priory Lane.
The Sports face Maidenhead United this Saturday.
Meanwhile, Aldershot confirmed on Thursday that assistant manager Hugo Langton has resigned from his role, with Alan Dowson taking charge of the team for the foreseeable future, assisted by James Henry.
The club added they “will look to provide as much clarity as possible in due course,” urging supporters to get behind Dowson and the players this weekend against Tamworth.
