■ HEATON Stannington dug deep to frustrate promotion-chasing Bradford Park Avenue at the Horsfall Community Stadium.
With Avenue sitting pretty in second and the Stan in seventh, the hosts dominated possession but couldn’t pierce a resolute Stan defence, cheered on by a hardy away following.
Bradford pressed early, with Shanks testing the woodwork and Sykes firing wide, but Heaton’s backline, marshalled by towering man of the match Dan Capewell, stood firm.
