SONNY WHEELER was the shoot-out hero as Canvey Island failed with their first two penalties, eventually succumbing to Leatherhead.
The Tanners took an early lead on ten minutes when Jacob Breckon found great strength to muscle through and play the ball across to Cam Black, who was waiting on the line to turn home just yards out.
Max Fiddes looked like equalising on 32 minutes but his shot was well kept out by Wheeler.
