Two goals from substitute Tyler Smith secured title-chasing Rochdale their 12th victory in 15 league games thus far.
Devante Rodney fired Dale into a first-half lead and then missed a penalty in the second, but it was Smith’s brace which sandwiched Alex Lankshear’s late goal back for Boston to make sure of the points.
“We were brilliant, but sluggish in certain moments,” was manager Jim McNulty’s honest assessment.
