Owen lifts Steels’ grafters

DEFENDER Elliot Owen headed a 54th-minute winner to provide Stocksbridge Park Steels a boost in their relegation battle.
It was no more than the visitors deserved after a grim first half in front of a crowd of 210, Ilkeston’s lowest of the season.
The Steels were the better side after the break with midfielder Sam Kay everywhere for the managerless visitors.
It left coach Chris Turner saying: “We know we are in a dogfight but we are putting everything into it.”
