■ ATHERTON Collieries returned to winning ways with an assured home victory against Sporting Khalsa.
The only goal of the game came through Harry Showman, who was first to respond after Ben Rydel drilled a shot into the penalty box, notching his second goal in three games for the club. Controversy ensued on the brink of half-time, as Khalsa’s Dom Perkins received a red card for violent conduct following an off-the-ball incident with the Stripes’ Kielen Adams.
