■ BASHLEY ended their desparate search for a first home Southern League win of the season at the eighth attempt thanks to a Connor Whiteley double.
Willand edged the first half, with both River Allen and Harvey Dorothy going close.
With players slipping all over the place, it had seemed certain that the game would be called off at half-time, but Bashley’s volunteer ground crew repaired the damage sufficiently for the second half to go ahead.
