■ SECOND-PLACED Hitchin continued their pursuit of runaway leaders Leighton Town this week, comfortably beating lowly Aylesbury United in front of 189 at Chesham’s Meadow ground.
The travelling Canaries were in fine voice from the start, as Lewis Franklin opened the scoring in the third minute. His finish, the product of a lovely team move, marked his fifth goal of the season.
After taking the lead, Hitchin continued to look the brighter side throughout the first half. Josh Jackman doubled the advantage in the 14th minute.
