Our National League Rundown returns for matchday 20 after a short break, with a title race now simmering nicely heading into the festive period.

The weekend served up no shortage of drama as Rochdale, Carlisle United and York City all boosted their promotion bids with victories.

Forest Green Rovers stumbled to a 1-1 draw with play-off hopefuls Wealdstone, and Scunthorpe United let two points slip against Braintree Town.

Southend United also thrust themselves into the promotion conversation after a dominant 3-0 win over Altrincham.

Sam Gale rounds up all the key results and standout moments from another unpredictable National League weekend.

Peace of the action

Brackley Town 2-3 York City

York City narrowly edged a five-goal thriller away at Brackley Town.

The Minstermen opened the scoring through Olley, but Brackley quickly took control, scoring twice via Morgan Roberts and Michael Nottingham.

York battled back just before the break, with Stones netting the equaliser.

A dramatic late second-half strike from talisman Ollie Peace secured the 3-2 victory for the visitors, keeping them firmly in the promotion race.

Brunt force trauma

Gateshead 0-3 Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood put in a commanding away performance, sweeping aside Gateshead with a decisive 3-0 victory.

Zak Brunt’s double and Regan Booty’s 94th-minute goal solidify Boreham Wood’s place in the playoff spots, while Gateshead’s struggles continue near the bottom of the league.

Jennings has the final say

Truro City 2-3 Sutton United

Sutton United edged a close and entertaining contest, defeating Truro City 3-2 to make it their fourth consecutive unbeaten game.

Jayden Harris and Kai Jennings steered the away side into a comfortable lead either side of the break.

However, this was cancelled out by Tinners midfielder Lirak Hassani, who proceeded to net a double in the second half.

Jennings, though, had not finished getting in on the act, scoring just two minutes after Hassani’s equaliser to hand Sutton the lead.

Truro fought hard, but the visitors’ clinical edge proved the difference, securing a valuable away win.

Stones leave Rovers rolling nowhere

Wealdstone 1-1 Forest Green Rovers

Wealdstone earned a creditable point by holding title contenders Forest Green Rovers to a 1-1 draw.

Isaac Moore scored in the 25th minute to give the away side the lead, and Micah Obiero was on hand to ensure The Stones got equal pegging by the end of the game.

The home side put in a great shift to ensure they were able to match one of the league’s top teams, preventing Forest Green from gaining ground at the top spot.

Standout Performance: Cards hold all the aces in A3 Derby

Aldershot 1-2 Woking

Woking secured local bragging rights with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over rivals Aldershot Town in the ‘A3 Derby’.

The Shots took the lead on the half-hour mark when Will Nightingale headed home from a Ryan Jones free-kick.

However, Woking hit back swiftly as Chin Okoli glanced in a free-kick delivery just five minutes later to level the score at the break.

Substitute Josh Osude scored the winner for the Cards in the 75th minute, tapping in a cutback from the right, to secure a huge three points and deepen Aldershot‘s relegation worries.
