■ A SINGLE goal from Joe Lumsden gave Pontefract all three points in a battling game at Heaton Stannington.
The striker nipped onto the end of a poor back pass before rounding Alfie Gordon in the Heaton goal, before tucking it in from an acute angle.
It was a tough afternoon for both sides, with the windy conditions not helping, but both played neat football when they could.
Pontefract should have gone ahead midway through the first half when a corner forced a scramble in the area, which was blocked by five Heaton bodies.
