MASON Terry joined an elite club of goalscoring goalkeepers – but couldn’t prevent Braintree Town from exiting the National League Cup, writes JON COUCH.

Trailing to Harry Charsley’s 79th-minute opener at Truro City, Terry was ushered up for a 95th-minute corner and subsequently took the quarter-final tie to penalties by bundling home a dramatic equaliser.

But Braintree couldn’t make best use of their lifeline as Lewis Walker, James Vennings and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas all missed from the spot allowing the Tinners to won 3-0 in the shootout.

Truro will now play Boreham Wood in the semi-finals after they eased past Brackley Town 5-2 at Meadow Park.

Two goal from top scorer Matt Rush and a Femi Ilesanmi strike put Luke

Garrard’s men in firm control by the break, before Charles Clayden added a fourth early in the second half.

Connor Hall and then Morgan Roberts pulled goals back for the Saints before Cameron Coxe completed the rout.

Ronan Maher’s 58th-minute free-kick handed Tamworth victory over FC Halifax Town at The Lamb to ensure Andy Peaks’ men

completed the National League semi-final trio.

The sole Premier League 2 side left in the competition are West Ham United after they secured a 2-1 win at Paul Hurst’s Boston United.

Jordy Hiwula pulled the Pilgrims level before Emeka Adiele fired the the Hammers winner.

Semi-final draw: Boreham Wood v Truro City, Tamworth v West Ham United.
