Village side Downton will be looking to continued their record Isuzu FA Vase run when they take a trip to Kent to face Punjab United for their first-ever quarter-final clash.

The Robins rallied to a superb 3-0 victory over Step 6 side Lymore Gardens to carry the flag for the Wessex League in the last eight with former Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Ipswich striker Brett Pitman, 38, among the scorers.

Indeed, with every team still standing chasing a first-ever Vase triumph, the door is wide open for a brand new name to be etched on the trophy.

North West Counties League Division One North side Droylsden were rewarded for edging out Bilston Town in a fiesty all-Step 6 encounter at Queen Street with a home tie against Spartan South Midlands League side Cockfosters, who knocked out holders and Vase favourites Whitstable Town on penalties.

The other two ties rested on yesterday’s results following last week’s postponements with Coventry United, pictured, conquerors of Northern League hopefuls North Shields, handed a trip to AFC Stoneham after they beat Haywards Heath Town.

The quarter-final ties will take place on Saturday February 28 with the winners picking up £4,125 in prize money, with the losing sides banking £1,300.
