GOSPORT ran out comfortable winners against a below-par Basingstoke to breathe new life into their play-off chase.
In a first half otherwise characterised by injury stoppages, Basingstoke created the one big chance as Robbie Gallagher crossed to the near post for George Reid to toe the ball goalwards, only for debutant keeper Lucas Thomas to get his body in the way.
Other than that, the first 45 minutes were a non-event but the game caught fire in first half stoppage time.
