FOOTBALL seasons ■ are long and every point counts, especially when you are in a relegation battle so the game at the Pilot Field felt massive for Hastings United and VCD Athletic in front of a crowd of nearly 900.

Hastings started the brighter with shot after shot peppering the VCD goal, with no real threat until James Stone put the ball on a plate for Lukas Franzen-Jones, but he couldn’t find the finish.
The game quickly turned after that into two teams who didn’t want to lose more than want to win.
