By the time the Welshman faced the press on Friday afternoon, the Cumbrians had already sold over 12,000 tickets for a play-off semi-final that pits Hughes’ former First Division Cumbrians against Luke Garrard’s unfashionable Hertfordshire upstarts.
That’s more than Bournemouth’s highest gate of the season, for a Premier League game against Liverpool.
