As Grant Shenton muses on his career, he confesses it’s uncomfortable singing his own praises.

Fortunately, Bury boss Anthony Johnson was happy to oblige after the conclusion of an epic title fight in the Northern Premier League’s West Division this season – Shenton’s first in charge at Avro, who were runners-up.
“He was a legend of a player for Bernard Morley and I at Ramsbottom, somebody who would probably be in my all-time XI,” said the Shakers’ manager.
“He’s a man I love, a man I respect, and I’m delighted he’s had the year he has.”
