Club legend Jon Challinor says Stamford AFC will always have a special place in his heart after ending his 12-year stay at the Zeeco Stadium.
The 45-year-old has finally called time on his Daniels’ career after making more than 450 appearances for the Southern League Premier Division Central club.
“It’s difficult to put into words what this club has meant to me,” said Challinor, who came through the Lincolnshire club’s academy and also had a spell as caretaker player-manager in 2015.
“From the moment I arrived, Stamford
became more than just a football club — it became home.
“I’ve been lucky enough to share so many memories, battles, victories, disappointments and special moments with incredible team-mates, staff and supporters along the way.”
Challinor also turned out for the likes of Aldershot Town, Exeter and York City, but there was only one place where the England Seniors’ international called home.
Posting a farewell message on social media, Challinor – the 11th player to leave Ant
Fenton’s squad this summer – added: “To the fans, thank you for your unwavering support throughout the years.
“Through the highs and lows, your backing never changed, and wearing the shirt in front of you has always been an honour and privilege. Your support has meant everything to my family and me. “Football clubs are built on good people, and
Stamford
AFC has plenty of them.”
