CLAPTON Community FC had a dream FA Cup debut, hammering fellow Essex Senior League side Benfleet in front of a bumper 702 crowd at the Old Spotted Dog.
The home support didn’t have to wait long for a goal as, after 19 minutes, centre-back Adam Sidky hitting a 30-yard stunner into the bottom corner of Benfleet keeper Florent Giblette’s net.
Benfleet should have levelled just before the break when a Gianni Francis corner was headed over from six yards by Jacob Wiggins.
