Marcus Dinanga missed a 90th-minute penalty that could have rescued a point for Scott Davies’s rejuvenated Aldershot Town, but Hartlepool United still maintained their 100 per cent start with another resolute performance.
A diving header from debutant Corey McKeown eventually broke through a spirited Shots team as Hartlepool had to dig deep in a game full of pace and intensity.
“I’ll take that,” smiled head coach Lee Clark at a second clean sheet victory to start the season.
“The lads have run through a brick wall for 99 minutes in crazy conditions.”
